Final Reflection ( 28 Dec - 31 Dec )

School is starting soon and i have revised almost the whole topic and will be able to understand what the teachers will be teaching.

Week 8 Reflection ( Dec 21 - 27 Dec )

I have added some articles and tables from the National Health Promotion Board(NHPB)into my science assignment. I compared my meal log to their reconmemded daily allowance of food.

I need to eat more fruits and start eating vegetables. I don't like vegetables because of the taste. These are the main things lacking in my diet.

Difficulties:

There was alot of information on the NHPB. Alot of time was spent to read, choose and simplify the articles in my assignment.

There was some words i did not understand like LDL and HDL cholestrol.

The examples of servings of food and phytochemicals.

Finding out the amount of servings i had a day was confusing as i had to look for the right table from NHPB.

Week 7 Reflection ( Dec 14 - 20 Dec )

I started downloading pictures and notes from the health promotion board onto my assignment. I realised that animal fat is one of the main sources of saturated fat. Luckily, i don't eat the skin of meat. I also realised that i should eat less deep fried food but that was what i eat most.

I read about minimizing trans fats and found out that cakes, pastries, cookies contains trans fats and so, i should eat less of them.

I read that there are lucky individuals that can take high amounts of cholesterol. i hope i'm one of them becuase i love shellfish like prawns and crabs!

I was also happy to find out that fish is a good protein source. Although i do not eat oily fish, i eat fish almost everyday. I love tofu, i realised that they are a source of calcium. I will choose more calcium fortified food from supermarkets.

It seems that fat does not only provide energy but helps to absorbes, transport and store vitamins. I thought fat just made u fat, so now i know it has a use in the human body.

The article from the health promotion board said that lunchean meat and chips are processed foods containing alot of salts. I decided to eat less of these kinds of foods.

Knowing that sugar causes weight gain, i should eat less sweets and brush my teeth properly. I don't want to wear dentures when i'm old

Week 6 Reflection ( 7 Dec - 13 Dec )

I begin to know more about the topic and understand the long alimentary canal of the digestive system.

I became more interested and felt like studying more beyond the topic itself.

Week 5 Reflection ( 30 Nov - 5 Dec )

I found that the enzymes for carbohydrates is carbohydrase, proteins is protease and fats is lipase. 

Week 4 Reflection ( 23 Nov - 29 Nov)

I continued onto enzymes and figure out their function. They appears to have different enzymes for digesting different food groups. There are also different names for each group.

I started to memorise the names and function of the enzymes and do they work under specific conditions? 


Week 3 Reflection ( 16 Nov - 22 Nov)

I went to check out the nutritional value of the food i ate from the national health promotion board. it seems to be the only website i can find which gives trusted and comprehensive information on food.
